As Planning Director, I managed the consultant and public engagement process for the Steamboat Springs 2019 Downtown Plan.

The process engaged a diverse working group of business owners, residents and stakeholder organizations. The resulting plan reinforced many objectives of the broader Community Area Plan, including maintaining downtown as the center of commercial activity and entertainment. It also revealed some of the inherent tensions between community goals such as focusing density in the core while limiting building heights and improving parking options while maintaining free parking. The overarching theme focused on maintaining community character, both physical and demographic, by strengthening historic preservation and promoting local businesses.
